about

"Music is the medicine of the mind"

If the above John Logan quote is true, imagine the positive effect music might have on a mind troubled by illness. It is this potential positive effect, which drives Conduct Becoming: When We Were Young, and it is with this in mind Conduct Becoming acts as a genesis for artist development within the Mount Allison, and surrounding community.
Conduct Becoming started in 2001 as a way to remember a friend, Jason Abraham, who lost his battle with cancer. Since then, Conduct Becoming has raised funds for cancer research as well as raised awareness of the far too common disease. The project has evolved to dedicate efforts not only to Abraham, but also to all those effected by cancer in any way.
Since our first production team meeting in September 2006, we have devoted ourselves to creating a cohesive album with a professional sound. We brought gifted musicians into the studio to round out each song, allowing us to raise the proverbial bar of standard. The result, as we hope you will agree, is an album deserving a place on the regular rotation in the 5-disk drawer of any living room, or on the average university student's mp3 player. We are very proud of how each track has developed from original concepts into exciting musical achievements. Each artist featured on the compilation represents a small percentage of the overabundant pool of independent, and often unknown musical talent at Mount Allison University. Choosing the featured tracks was a daunting, yet ultimately rewarding process and with great pleasure we present to you:
