Lyrics: I’ve told you thank you hundreds of times for small little things but you give me wings! And I’ve told you I love you Once or twice And while the gesture is nice It’s just the tip of the iceberg Cause I mean it more than words can allow So hear me out You paint my days in bright vibrant colours Squeezing every last drop out of last days of summer You are precious to me, and to me you are true But how do I show you, how do I show you? How do I show you, how do I show you? What can I do for you? What can I do for you? I’d like to erase myself, float like a bright plume of joy on the wind What can I do for you? Tell me what you wanted to I want to show you I love you, but I don’t know where to begin What am I worthy of? What can I give to love? How do I show you I love you when words all but pour themselves out? I want to be louder Can I overcome doubt? Can I swallow my pride? Here I am, seeking courage and wisdom and beautiful quiet inside There is beauty in service There is beauty in care Yet here I am, seeking music to capture a thing to which nothing compares I love you, I love you I’m here because of you I’m grateful to know you, But how can I show you? I love you, I love you I’m here because of you I’m grateful to know you, But how can I show you? I love you, I love you I’m here because of you You’re the ground to my roots, You’re the socks in my boots I love you, I love you I’m here because of you You’re the wind in my sails, Hammer to my nails I love you, I love you I’m here because of you You’re berries to my wine, Rosemary to my thyme I love you, I love you I’m here because of you I’ll do right by you, And I’ll stay beside you I love you, I love you, I’m here because of you No one is above you, I love you, I love you I love you, I love you I’m here because of you No one is above you, I love you, I love you

Lyrics: Started from the bottom of the mother fucking scene Everybody wanna come and try and get a piece Who the fuck are you you deserve no grease Hit me up when you do as you speak I’m the best, and you know I flex Jump on the stage like bitch I’m next Skinny little boy but I pump my chest But I still say Can you come back Come back to me Would you come back Come back to me Cause I’m so crazy And I’m about to lose it So please come back Come back to me I started as a cry-holic A crybaby never fights honest Was a foolish man with no vision I had crossed fingers in my pockets But I stood up I’m triumphant I had a thought put a rhyme on it Now I’m iconic it is ironic That it just means that I’m psychotic Cause I’m ballzy I go step in On the stage I make my own legends Don’t lecture me cause I don’t get it I won’t get it I’m focusing I’m never better cause I’m soul setting I don’t belong I’m my own repping For greatness I am gold digging Look in my heart that hole stretching I don’t know if I should give up Tryna get a feeling I’m a bit loved It’s the fault of the system Or I’m paranoid I should lift up You can’t just cast me out to the side And expect me to give fucks I was never born to kiss butts So I won’t ask for a dick suck That’s a shit job, but look at this All the people that I gotta live up I don’t like that lemme kick stop I’m my own man so piss off I’m a loser and a legend big up To the big man or the sick fuck Listen to me Ima give my all So record that like a tic toc I apologize Pride in my head that’s a common crime I know that it’s a gray world Not black and white but I’m color blind Feel like I should start proving myself Making a damn fool of myself Let’s hope I’m not losing myself To my own soul that’s stupid as hell I promise you that I’ll grind so hard That I’ll tire out my bones I’m a little salty pussy bitch But I love you all in the zone So let’s turn the page of this story What can I bring to this show Who knew that this cavern of madness Would be something I call home Can you come back Come back to me Would you come back Come back to me Cause I’m so crazy And I’m about to lose it So please come back Come back to me Dark times I feel crazy at night Hard times I think that I’ve died Dark times I feel crazy at night Hard times Where is my life Can you come back Come back to me Would you come back Come back to me Cause I’m so broken I’ve already lost it all So please come back Come back to me

Message from the Manager

"Conduct Becoming 2020: Take Me East" has been a long time coming. The COVID-19 global pandemic cut the school year off a month early and suddenly production, album design, and all finishing touches were split across provinces. Some of us graduated, some of us got full-time jobs, and most of us moved out of Sackville, but through teamwork and communication, we were still able to pull it off. Production moved online, and we used Zoom, Google Drive, email, and more to finish mixing, mastering, and album design remotely. And now, the year-long process is coming to a beautiful close.

In my four years as part of Conduct Becoming, this is the album of which I am most proud: this year, we had the largest group of artists on the album since 2012, for a total of 15 incredible tracks spanning a wide range of genres. Over the past few days, I’ve been listening to it nonstop, double- and triple-checking every track for quality, and when I’m not playing the songs, they’re constantly floating around in my head. I’m so grateful to have come to know this year’s diverse, talented, and resilient group of artists, and I’m so thrilled to be able to finally release this year’s album. So, to Anna, Amy, PJ, Melanie, Julia, Nick, David, Adelle, Graeme, Gill, Kawama, Sam, Ryu, Ben, and Shaina: thank you, thank you, thank you. You’ve made this year so unbelievably excellent, and I count myself so lucky that this year has been my last. I leave this album in Melanie’s extremely capable hands, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes you all.

With all my admiration and gratitude,

Clare Maguire
Album Manager, 2019, 2020

Acknowledgments

Many thanks to Clare Maguire, Melanie Wry, and Shaina Kennedy for keeping things running; to Ben Volpe and David Dunham for being amazing producers; to James Anderson and CHMA 106.9 for providing mastering and the use of their beautiful production studio; to Darren Wheaton, Ducky’s Bar, and Joey’s Bar & Grill for facilitating great performances at excellent venues; to Mel’s Tearoom, Julia Dunn, and the organizers of Sackville’s Stereophonic XV // Cold Nights festival for a great January showcase; to the Argosy, the Mount Allison Students’ Union (MASU), and Mount Allison University for their continued support; and to the warm, vibrant musical community of Sackville, NB, for being a place that this music can call home.

Jason Joseph Abraham was a senior student who died of cancer on March 27th, 2000. Since then, Conduct Becoming has served as a way to commemorate his loss and raise money for cancer research, while also celebrating musical diversity in Sackville, New Brunswick. As always, this project is “for Abes,” as well as those who have been affected by the disease.
